Description/Duties

Overview:

The Staff Attorney provides legal services to St. Ambrose clients. The particular emphasis is to provide advice and counseling on matters affecting preservation of stable housing, including employment law.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and direct representation to eligible clients
  • Participate in outreach and education events in local communities
  • Foster collaborative relationships with related public interest organizations
  • Maintain a caseload of housing related legal matters
  • Attend court hearings and foreclosure meetings, and draft legal letters, documents and pleadings as necessary

Skills/Qualifications

Key Qualifications:

  • J.D. and admission to Maryland Bar
  • Strong knowledge of civil law
  • Ability to work well with persons from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and working styles
  • Knowledge of foreclosure law, landlord-tenant and related real estate matters strongly preferred
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, St. Ambrose’s mission and goals

Physical Requirements: 

This position normally requires the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting or performing other work requiring medium exertion, talking, and hearing on a regular basis to perform the job requirement.   These physical demands are required up to 85% of the time.

Compensation

Salary Range:$60,000.00 Annually Onwards
